THE MODEL

The work The Model uses traditional photography techniques to capture a series of images that exist between reality and fiction, reflecting the objectification of models in the fashion industry. Through the secondary creation and amplification of these images, I more directly highlight the issue of the male gaze in the fashion industry. In this industry, models, as performers showcasing clothing or products, gradually become commodified. Baudrillard’s notion that commodity value increasingly shifts towards symbolic value aptly describes the phenomenon of models being commodified in modern society. This photographic work explores the functionality of models within the fashion industry and how the human body, in certain contexts, is stripped of its intrinsic value, becoming merely an object to fulfill desire.
